Animal Health Alliance (Australia) Ltd supports industry stewardship programs implemented by Agsafe and WormBoss.
Responsible product advice and safe storage and handling The Agsafe Guardian program is a robust co-regulatory system that ensures premises where Animal Health Alliance (Australia) Ltd member company products are manufactured, formulated, stored or sold meet appropriate standards for safety and environmental protection, while those involved in the distribution, storage and advising on product use are trained and meeting accreditation standards.
Premises that don’t meet the standards are subjects to Australian Competition and Consumer Commission approved trading sanctions.
Managing sheepworms WormBoss is a resource for farmers to help them fight sheepworms. It has been developed by the Australian Sheep Industry Cooperative Research Centre and Australian Wool Innovation Ltd, with input from leading parasitologists, researchers, extension officers and consultants as well as manufacturers and distributors of drenches which include members of Animal Health Alliance (Australia) Ltd.
Container recycling Implemented by Agsafe, drumMUSTER is the national program for the collection and recycling of empty, cleaned, non returnable animal health product containers. This provides product users with a defined route to safely dispose of containers and reduces the amount of waste going to landfill.
Disposal of chemicals ChemClear®, another Agsafe stewardship program, is the national program for the collection and disposal of unwanted currently registered rural chemicals. The objective of the program is to minimise the accumulation of unwanted rural chemicals on farm which may create potential risks to the environment, public health and trade.
Ollie's Island Ollie's Island is a multimedia eductional resource promoting agricultural sustainability by allowing students to learn where different products come from, their role in the production chain as consumers and how by reducing, reusing, recycling and making wise consumer choices they can make a difference.
Ollie's Island was released in 2007 and all primary and secondary schools Australia received a free copy.
Animal Health Alliance was a foundation sponsor of the program. http://www.olliesworld.com/island/aus/index.htm
